Thanks to Cookie and RDQ for organising a fantastic Christmas social at The Charles Holden. Excellent company, great band and good food made it a fun-filled evening (or start of the evening for some)!    

Congratulations to Laura and Callum on the birth of their son. Laura, you nearly took new-age ideas a step too far! At least Callum and your sister have a fall back option career-wise :).

It is with great sadness that we have to report the recent death of Ivor Vials, a former Club Captain and an important part of Merton Hockey Club’s history. He was 81 years old. Chris Pottinger, a past Merton Club member and Hon. Treasurer of the Club in 1972-73 was a personal friend of Ivor’s

Fantastic wins this weekend for our young club members. Despite playing against some more experienced opposition, they that hard work and sprit can sometimes carry the day.

Congratulations Dingle and Brad on the birth of Isla this summer. We are grateful for Saturday father and baby swimming sessions which allow Dingle to get back to the important things in life, like playing hockey :).

The first set of twins have arrived, welcome Andre and Emily to the Merton family. We look forward to the day when you can not only sit up straight but join us on the pitch as well. Amazingly Taryn has been back playing for the last 3 weeks already!  

Thank you to Neil from Merton Cricket and John S and John B for their stirling work turning over the clubhouse from the cricket to the hockey season. Cleaning and re-stocking is never light work although rumour has it John B’s wife (a Surbiton player) was part of the work gang! The John Innes Clubhouse
